Arriving in front of the Proprietress's room, Yang Kai raised his hand and knocked on the door. Immediately, a cold voice came from inside, “Come in!”
Yang Kai shrank his neck, knowing that Old Bai’s words weren’t false. The Proprietress’ mood really wasn’t very good, and her tone was quite terrifying.
However, since he was ordered to go out on a mission, he wasn’t afraid of anything and immediately pushed the door open, “Proprietress, I’m back.”
Inside the room, the Proprietress sat on a chair and glanced over, with a cold look on her face as she chuckled, “You still have the guts to come back? You still have the nerve to come back?” She slammed the table and shouted, “Why didn’t you die outside!”
'It wasn’t you who told me to go pick the Snowy Sky Threads, but now you’re saying such things!' Yang Kai’s heart burned with anger as he clenched his fists. Just as he was about to argue, he remembered the last time she had rushed to the Wind and Cloud Auction House to rescue him and Old Bai. Suppressing the anger in his heart, he took a step forward without saying a word, “Proprietress, I brought back what you wanted.”
“What do I want? What do I want?” The Proprietress grit her teeth, seemingly wanting to bite off a piece of Yang Kai’s flesh. As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly opened her mouth and stared at a bamboo basket on the table.
Inside the bamboo basket were a number of red and black fruits the size of a baby’s fist, each of them giving off a refreshing fragrance, as if they had just been picked.
“Snowy Sky Thread?” The Proprietress was shocked, her anger quickly fading as she asked, “Where did you get this?”
Yang Kai sneered, “Where else?”
The Proprietress suddenly stood up and asked in shock, “You went to Nine Nether Continent?”
Yang Kai snapped, “This thing is a specialty of the Nine Nether Continent, where else can I go?”
“You disappeared without a trace recently, so you went to the Nine Nether Continent?” The Proprietress still couldn’t believe it, her eyes widening.
“Where else do you think I went?” Yang Kai glanced over at her and was surprised to find that the Proprietress's eyes were filled with guilt and lingering fear. He couldn’t help being stunned for a moment, not knowing what she was feeling.
“How did you get to Nine Nether Continent?” The Proprietress asked.
“How else can I go? I’ll just…” Yang Kai paused for a moment before suddenly realizing that there was no way to explain this matter. He didn’t have a flying artifact that could resist the tearing force of the Domain Gates, so how could he pass through those Domain Gates? If he told the lady boss that he was using his physical body to travel it, she probably wouldn’t believe him, so he simply waved his hand and said, “If you want to eat it, eat it quickly. It won’t be fresh if it’s left for too long. I’ll go rest first.”
Cupping his hands, he turned around to leave.
Just as he lifted his foot, his collar was suddenly grabbed by someone. Turning around, he saw that the Proprietress had appeared behind him and was grabbing his clothes.
“What… Hey, why are you taking off my clothes!?” Yang Kai’s face was filled with panic. The Proprietress actually grabbed him and threw him onto the bed, using one hand to restrain him while the other to remove his clothes.
What was wrong with this woman? He wanted to resist, but in the hands of a Sixth Order Open Heaven Stage, he couldn’t even summon the slightest bit of strength, so how could he resist? In just a few moves, his clothes were untied.
“Are you crazy?” Yang Kai shouted angrily, his eyes spitting fire. This was the first time he had encountered such a situation. How could a woman force a man to take off his clothes like this?
Glaring angrily, he saw that the Proprietress's expression was dull as she stared fixedly at his exposed chest and waist before gently stretching out a hand to touch them.
The touch was warm and enticing, and Yang Kai couldn’t help letting out a few snorts, his resistance instantly becoming less firm. Suddenly, he let out another hiss as the Proprietress touched his wounds, causing a burst of pain.
Although Yang Kai’s physical body was incredibly powerful and he had used his Space Laws to reduce the risk while he was shuttling through the Domain Gates, every time he did so he would be riddled with wounds. It wasn’t a serious injury, it was just that he appeared to be in a miserable state, he would naturally be able to recover after a few days of rest.
Without stopping to rest, he rushed back to see the Proprietress, his injuries still not fully healed.
“You forced your way through the Domain Gate?” The Proprietress stared at Yang Kai in disbelief.
Yang Kai pushed her away, stood up, put on his clothes, and snorted, “What else can i do?”
“Are you crazy?” The Proprietress shouted, “Do you know how dangerous this is? What if… what if…”
“Didn’t you tell me to go?” Yang Kai adjusted his messy clothes and didn’t even look up.
“I…” The Proprietress was at a loss for words. She had indeed asked Yang Kai to go to the Nine Nether Continent to pick some Snowy Sky Thread, but it was not enough to force him to travel through the Domain Gate with his physical body alone. If Yang Kai had agreed, she would have found him a flying artifact to protect him, but Yang Kai had not agreed at the time. When she turned around, he had actually gone alone, causing her to think that Yang Kai had lost his temper and left.
“Does Proprietress have any other instructions? If not, I’ll go down and rest first. It’s been quite a long journey,” Yang Kai cupped his fists and asked. Seeing that she was just staring blankly at him, he couldn’t be bothered with her and simply nodded before turning around to leave.
Opening the door, Yang Kai’s body paused for a moment, only to see that in the courtyard, the Accountant was holding his Golden Abacus in his hands, making crackling sounds. Old Bai and the Chef were huddled together, their expressions solemn as they muttered something, while the Chef nodded from time to time.
Three boring bastards! Yang Kai sneered, turned around, closed the door, and strode away.
Halfway down the road, Old Bai caught up with him but didn’t say anything to him. Instead, he solemnly warned, “Don’t bother Proprietress for three days, otherwise you’ll suffer.”
Yang Kai nodded seriously. The memory of the last time was still fresh in his mind, so how could he repeat the same mistake? He secretly made up his mind that even if the Proprietress called him, he would not go over.
Returning to his room, Yang Kai sat down and began meditating to restore his strength. The past month of travel had been quite tiring, so Yang Kai didn’t want to think about anything else but sleep.
The night passed uneventfully.
The next day, Yang Kai came out early and went to work with Old Bai and the others on the First Inn. The First Inn’s business was quite good, and since noon, it had been filled with guests. In fact, the First Inn’s business was quite large, so it didn’t need to rely on selling food to maintain its livelihood. The main purpose of this inn was to gather information and obtain all kinds of secret information. This was also the reason why it had opened an inn. The inn was a place where fish and dragons mixed together, a place where all kinds of information flowed.
After busying himself for half a day, he finally had some time to rest and went to the counter to chat with the Accountant.
Although the people from the First Inn had only been in Star City for a short time, their ability to gather information was unparalleled. Listening to the accounts of the big shots in Star City was quite interesting.
Yang Kai was more concerned about the Wind and Cloud Auction House’s matters, so after asking around, he learned that Wind and Cloud Auction House hadn’t made any big movements recently, so it seemed like they had admitted defeat last time.
“By the way, did you really go to the Nine Nether Continent some time ago?” The Accountant asked while calculating the accounts.
Yang Kai nodded, “The Proprietress said she wanted to eat the Snowy Sky Thread, so I went.”
The Accountant looked up at him and said, “The Proprietress didn’t even know you were there. She thought you had run away or something had happened and had been trying to find out your whereabouts. The entire Star City has been searched several times, but no clues have been found.”
Hearing this, Yang Kai sneered, “Does she care so much about me?”
The Accountant shook his head solemnly, “I don't dare say about others, but you, the Proprietress definitely cares.”
“What do you mean?”
The Accountant shook his head and said, “Our Proprietress has a sharp tongue but a soft heart. In fact, she’s quite a bitter person. Don’t look at how she acts so arrogantly in front of outsiders, she’s actually not like that at all and us workers had nothing to say. It’s just that sometimes her temper is a bit hot…” Saying so, the Accountant suddenly stopped talking and stared behind Yang Kai with his mouth agape.
Thud… A plate fell to the ground and shattered. Yang Kai turned his head and saw that not far away on his left, Old Bai was also standing there in a daze. His hand was suspended in the air and the plate under his feet was smashed into pieces, scattering a plate of dishes all over the ground.
The other waiters who were busy in the shop all froze on the spot, as if someone had cast a spell on them. Many of the customers’ eyes were fixed on one particular direction.
Yang Kai suddenly felt a chill run down his spine as a chill ran up his spine. Swallowing a mouthful of saliva, he slowly turned around and his eyes narrowed.
Not far behind him, the Proprietress had appeared at some point. Her black hair was tied up into a woman’s bun, and her head was adorned with a silver and gold phoenix hairpin. As she walked, it seemed as if she was about to spread her wings and soar into the sky. The dress she was wearing was quite fitting, making her look both graceful and dignified. What was most eye-catching was the Proprietress’ face, which was pink and slightly red, as if it had been greatly nourished.
At this moment, the Proprietress smiled sweetly as all the male guests in the hall stared at her like leeches.
The Proprietress went over to greet the guests one by one, occasionally letting out a tinkling laugh, even personally pouring wine for the guests at the table, causing the male guests at the table to reveal looks of lust. If it weren’t for their scruples, they would have likely invited the Proprietress to accompany them.
Not long after, she walked around and came to the counter, knocking on the table, “Don’t just stand there, work hard!”
The Accountant responded with an ‘oh’, but his hands didn’t move as if he had yet to recover from his shock.
The Proprietress glanced at Yang Kai again and smiled, “Come over later, I have something to tell you.”
Yang Kai also nodded, feeling a great sense of alarm. This crazy woman was smiling at him, what was she smiling about?
“Wipe the floor and clean up your things, what are you looking at?” The Proprietress asked Old Bai.
Old Bai nodded repeatedly like a chicken pecking at rice.
The Proprietress turned around again and reached out to wipe her hair, whispering to Yang Kai and the Accountant, “Did this hairpin look too tender on me?”
“It’s not!” The Accountant quickly said, “Proprietress’ age is just right for it.”
After punching Yang Kai’s arm, Yang Kai also came back to his senses and said, “Yes, yes, just right for it.”
